How a USB microphone works

How it connects: one USB cable straight into a laptop or PC (and many phones with a USB-C adapter). The mic has its own built-in sound card, so no audio interface is needed.
Best for: solo podcasts, online classes, Zoom, streaming and voice-over at a desk.
Dynamic or condenser? In a normal Bangladeshi room with fans, traffic and echo, a dynamic USB mic picks up less of the room. Condensers sound more detailed but need a quiet, treated room.
Common mistake: buying an audio interface for a USB-only mic. It will not plug in. If you may grow into a mixer later, pick a USB + XLR hybrid such as the Maono PD200X or Rode PodMic USB.
Two people? Two USB mics on one computer is unreliable. Use two XLR mics and a 2-input interface instead.

How an XLR dynamic microphone works

How it connects: XLR cable into an audio interface or mixer, which connects to your computer by USB. It does not plug into a computer on its own.
Best for: podcasts, radio-style voice, live vocals, and any room that is not soundproofed. Dynamics ignore background noise far better than condensers.
Gain matters: broadcast dynamics such as the Rode PodMic and Procaster are quiet. Pair them with an interface that has about 60 dB or more of clean gain (Scarlett 2i2 / 4i4 4th Gen, Vocaster One / Two).
No phantom power needed, and +48V will not harm a dynamic mic.
You also need: an XLR cable, a boom arm or stand, and closed-back headphones.
