On-camera, shotgun and wired lavalier microphones

How it connects: a 3.5mm cable into the camera's mic input, or into a phone with the right adapter (TRRS for phones, TRS for cameras). Some models use USB-C or Lightning directly.
Shotgun mics sit on the camera and pick up sound in front of the lens. Great for vlogs, B-roll and one speaker within about 1 metre.
Wired lavaliers clip on the shirt: the cheapest way to get clear voice on a phone, but the cable limits movement.
Check first: your camera has a 3.5mm mic input. Canon EOS 2000D/4000D and DJI Osmo Pocket models do not.
